The Limited Edition 1958 Custom Falcon™ offers an alluring take on a classic Gretsch design in a dark and mysterious Emerald Night metallic finish. Its 2.75” deep maple body features Trestle Bracing, while TV Jones® Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter’Tron™ pickups deliver the twang, growl and power needed to cut through the mix.
Originally introduced in 1958 and further refined in 1959, Trestle Bracing uses two bridge-shaped struts that span the length of the top and connect to the back via four feet. This bracing system adds snap and faster note attack, improves sustain and provides excellent feedback rejection while retaining the instrument’s fundamental hollow nature.
The TV Jones® Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter’Tron™ pickups are faithful reproductions of the original “Ful-Fidelity” Filter’Tron pickups invented by Ray Butts. They are made according to Ray Butts’ personal notes and designs, alongside TV Jones’ extensive multi-decade analysis of original Filter’Tron pickups. Compared with modern Filter’Tron pickups, they offer a tighter bass response and slightly more top end. The absence of wax potting contributes to a more open, three-dimensional sound with unique sparkle and exceptional dynamics.
The standard “U”-shaped maple neck has a 12”-radius ebony fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, Mother of Pearl Neo-Classic™ thumbnail inlays and Luminlay® side dots. The guitar also features a nitrocellulose lacquer finish, a bone nut, Grover® Imperial™ tuning machines, gold hardware, a Space Control™ bridge with pinned ebony base and a Bigsby® B6GP String-Thru vibrato tailpiece.
Classic and modern appointments include jeweled G-Arrow control knobs, gold sparkle binding with multi-ply purfling, and a gold vintage thick plexi pickguard with a ghosted Gretsch logo and Penguin graphic. The G6242L Gretsch® deluxe hardshell case is included.
