Inspired by the historic “Rex” line of instruments offered through mail-order catalogs in the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s, the Gretsch® Jim Dandy™ Concert captures the charm and spirit of those early Gretsch flat-top guitars with comfortable playability and distinctive tone.
Its compact concert body shape and 24.75" scale length provide an approachable playing experience and versatile tone for a wide variety of musical settings. The X-braced body is crafted from select lightweight laminate tonewoods, including basswood, for a balance of woody vintage character and reliable durability.
The C-shaped nato set neck has a 12th-fret body joint and an inviting feel, while the vintage-style fingerboard features 20 frets and oversized pearloid dot inlays on walnut. A synthetic bone nut and vintage-style details add to the instrument’s nostalgic personality.
The bridge combines a string-through walnut construction with a compensated saddle and vintage-style pinned design. Other period-inspired appointments include a single-ply white pickguard with a “G” graphic, painted pinstripe purfling, 1950s-style open-gear die-cast tuning machines in a 3-on-a-plate configuration and vintage end-pin strap buttons.
From bluesy porch picking to speakeasy swing, the Gretsch Jim Dandy Concert is a compact companion for newcomers and experienced players alike.
