The Summer of Love and Flower Power movement of 1967 influenced mainstream fashions worldwide, and Fender embraced the era with its new Blue Flower and Paisley Telecasters. Oddly enough, these guitars became more popular with rockabilly and country western players—most famously adopted by Tele master James Burton—than with the flower children who helped inspire them. They have earned a special place in Fender history, and the Fender Custom Shop Vintage Custom 1968 Blue Flower and Paisley Tele models are faithful recreations of those original instruments.
The two-piece select alder body features an NOS lacquer finish with WLS undercoat over the iconic Paisley or Blue Flower motif. The rift-sawn maple neck has a ’60s-style "oval C" profile, topped with a round-lam rift-sawn maple fingerboard featuring a 7.25"-9.5" vintage compound radius and 21 medium vintage frets for a comfortable feel across the neck. Hand-wound ’67 Tele pickups meet the exact specifications for that year, with a three-way switch and modern Tele wiring. Other features include an eight-hole clear polyurethane pickguard, a ’67 Tele bridge with threaded steel saddles, Schaller® "F" tuning machines, a bone nut and a wing string tree. A Deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity are included.
