The Player II Modified Stratocaster® HSS is a classic guitar designed with the modern player in mind. Its neck is built for fast, fluid playability, with a Modern “C” profile, a silky satin urethane finish on the back, and a comfortable 9.5” radius slab rosewood or one-piece maple fingerboard with smooth rolled edges and 22 medium jumbo frets. The hand-rolled fingerboard edges provide a broken-in feel, while the 9.5” radius facilitates fluid leads and bends without choking out.
The alder body is available in a variety of new finishes. The Player II Modified humbucker is powerful and articulate with plenty of output, while the Noiseless™ pickups deliver classic Strat® chime and sparkle without unwanted noise. A push-pull switch on the second tone control splits the bridge humbucker for classic Strat® single-coil bridge tones. The treble bleed circuit retains natural high-end when rolling off the volume, preserving sparkly cleans and chimey edge-of-breakup tones.
The two-point synchronized tremolo features six block steel saddles for improved intonation, sustain, tuning stability and ease of adjustment. Its upgraded chamfered tremolo block provides a wider range of travel than a standard tremolo block, allowing for more expressive, musical vibrato. Short-post locking tuning machines provide a sharper, more consistent break angle over the nut for increased sustain and enhanced tuning stability, while making string changes fast and easy. The Graph Tech® TUSQ® nut provides tuning stability, especially with heavy tremolo use, and produces more harmonics in the mid and upper range. The modern string tree provides a smooth travel surface for the strings, preventing hang-ups and helping to keep the tuning stable during demanding performances.
