The Classic Vibe™ Active ’70s Jazz Bass® V draws inspiration from the iconic basses that defined the funky tones of the 1970s, combining vintage looks with modern performance through its onboard preamp. This Squier® 5-string bass features a pair of Fender Designed™ alnico Noiseless™ J Bass® pickups with a dual-coil design that eliminates unwanted signal noise while retaining tonal richness, detail and punch.

Powered by a 9-volt battery, the preamp provides controls for volume, pickup blend, tone and treble/bass boost, along with a switch for active or passive operation. The tone control functions in both settings, while active mode engages the preamp for additional bass and treble boost control.

A HiMass™ top-load bridge features a higher-mass plate for added resonance and sustain, with five beefed-up saddles seated in saddle slots for stable intonation and stability. Other details include a bound fingerboard with block inlays, which also improves the visibility of the side markers in dark playing environments, rich-looking nickel-plated hardware and a vintage-tinted gloss neck finish that provides a slick playing feel and a classic throwback look.
